Better Energy Homes Scheme

Simple grants for individual upgrades.

The Better Energy Homes Scheme offers financial support for homeowners who want to carry out single or multiple energy upgrades — such as attic or wall insulation, heating system improvements, or solar PV.

Eligibility Criteria:

Home built and occupied before 2011.
You own the property.
Works must be completed by an SEAI-registered contractor.
Grant application must be approved before work begins.
A post-works BER certificate must be completed.

Warmer Homes Scheme

Free energy upgrades for eligible homeowners.

The Warmer Homes Scheme provides fully funded energy upgrades to homeowners who receive certain social welfare payments. It’s designed to make homes warmer, healthier, and cheaper to run — at no cost to eligible applicants.

Typical Upgrades Include:

  • Attic and cavity wall insulation
  • Draught-proofing and lagging jackets
  • Energy-efficient lighting
  • Heating system and controls upgrades
  • Renewable systems (where suitable)

Eligibility Criteria:

You own and live in the home.
The home was built and occupied before 2006.
